Spring

Spring is in the air. I can feel it, smell it, see it everywhere. Color is finally exploding and I realize that I have survived my first east coast winter. Truth be told, it wasn't that bad. Yes the snow sucked, yes my car CAN NOT drive in the snow, unless I want strangers driving me to safety but all that can be avoided.

Mason is defiantly enjoying the warmer weather, and the daylight savings. We can finally go to the park after school now. Something that Mason has missed.

And the best part of all is just spending more time outside. With family. We have been stuck inside for so long and that any chance we have to be outside, we take it. Lately we have been going to a small park area. Where you walk into the forest about a 1/4 of a mile to a small river bank where Mason encounters two loves, rocks and dogs.

But as you can see, he is one happy boy and could a mother ask for anything more.

Inspiration in the Strangest Places

It is sometime funny how you can find inspiration in such strange places. Take the example of this tree next to where I work. I have passed by this tree so many times to walk to the grocery store during my lunch break. Never really thought much of it. But a few weeks back we had a terrible wind storm. It left half the town without power.

One of the casualties of that storm was this tree. It ended up falling over and destroying the fence next to it. When the crews had cleaned up the mess the hollow stump was all that remained. This once huge tree that was so powerful and so strong was reduced to nothing, or so I thought. To see this new life, this sign of spring, it made me realize that no matter how bad this life gets you down and tries to knock you over, that even if it succeeds there is always hope. Always the chance for growth, for a new start, maybe a better one. Maybe the tree will be stronger because it fell over. Who knows.

I do know one thing, that I want to take this lesson and apply it to my life. Sometimes I have a really hard day at work or I am told I need a $1800 new exhaust pipe for my car or the one true friend I have made since I moved out here has decided to move back to France. No matter what the situation is, I know I will survive. I will overcome anything that tries to push me down or blow me over. I am strong and I don't need a trunk to prove it.

Maritime Aquarium

Last weekend Mason and I went to the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk.
Here are some of the pictures.

Mason now wants to get a pet turtle and name him Stinky.

Feeding time for the seals.

A very funny picture at the new "Go Fishing" exhibit, all about fishermen and the tools they use.

We both had a great time.
